  1. Gave this 3/5 stars on Goodreads. It’s another overly long YA fantasy (525 pages). featuring opposing groups (magic users vs. nonmagic). I liked it, but was kind of hard to get into. It dragged through the first half. Points for diversity – it features a West African inspired world, but otherwise I did not find it to be a particularly interesting or unique amongst similar titles. The romance was meh, the characters were meh, etc. A lot of people have really enjoyed it, however, so maybe I have just been reading to much epic high-fantasy YA.
